Nickel And Cobalt Extraction From Caldag Lateritic Nickel Ores By Using Hydrometalurgical Processes

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2014Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2014Nikel oldukça geniş kullanım alanlarına sahip bir metal olması ile birlikte Türkiye’de özellikle lateritik formda oldukça değerli cevherleri bulunmaktadır. Düşük tenörlü de olsa bu cevherlerden hidrometalurjik proseslerle ekonomik şekilde nikel ekstraksiyonu mümkündür. Bu anlamda Manisa Çaldağ’dan alınan limonitik formda lateritik nikel cevherlerine atmosferik basınç sülfürik asit liçi ve asitle muamele-kavurma-liç şeklinde 2 ayrı hidrometalurjik proses uygulanmıştır. Bu cevherin metal içerikleri %1,41 Ni, %0,062 Co, %24,94 Fe, %0,001 Cu, %3,53 Mg, %0,29 Mn, %2,11 Al olarak tespit edilmiştir. Çaldağ lateritik yatağı rezervi ise 33 milyon tondur. Yaptığımız bu çalışmada lateritik cevhere öncelikle atmosferik basınç asit liçi uygulanmış ve liç süresi, liç sıcaklığı, asit konsantrasyonu, tane boyutu ve pülpte katı yoğunluğu gibi parametrelerin nikel ve kobalt kazanımındaki etkisi incelenmiş ve optimize edilen bu parametrelere göre 150 g/lt asit konsantrasyonunda, 800C liç sıcaklığı ve 120 dakika liç süresinde, %10 pülp yoğunluğu ile tane boyutu 0,074 mm’nin altında %69,89 Ni ve %62,80 Co liç verimleri elde edilmiştir. Daha sonra asitle muamele-kavurma-liç prosesi uygulanarak asit miktarı, kavurma sıcaklığı, kavurma süresi, liç süresi, pülp yoğunluğu gibi parametrelerin nikel ve kobalt kazanımındaki etkisi incelenmiş ve optimize edilen bu parametrelere göre cevher ağırlığının 1,5 katı asit miktarı, 3000C kavurma sıcaklığı ve 60 dakika kavurma süresi, kavurma sonrası 30 dakika liç süresi ve 0,125 g/lt pülp yoğunluğunda %76,80 Ni ve %45,75 Co liç verimleri elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen bu sonuçlara göre; direkt olarak sülfürik asit ile liç yerine asitle muamele-kavurma-liç prosesi uygulanarak nikel ve kobalt liç verimlerinin artırılabileceği görülmüştür. Optimum koşullarda bu prosesle çözeltiye alınan nikel ve kobaltın çözeltiden alınabilmesi için yapılan çöktürme deneylerinde öncelikle H2O2 kullanılarak oksitleme, daha sonra NaOH kullanılarak götit formunda çöktürme yoluyla demir giderme işlemi uygulandıktan sonra yine NaOH kullanılarak karışık hidroksit çöktürme yöntemiyle nikelin %90,81’i, kobaltın ise %75,22’sinin çöktürüldüğü gözlemlenmiştir.Nickel’s having wide usage areas makes this metal very valuable and it has quite valuable lateritic ores in Turkey. Despite these ores have low nickel tenor, it is possible to extract nickel from these ores by using of hydrometalurgical processes. In that sence, two different hydrometalurgical processes are applied to the limonitic formed lateritic nickel ore which is taken from Manisa Çaldağ, which are atmospheric pressure sulphuric acid leaching and pug-roast-leach process. The metal contents of this ore is detected as 1,41% Ni, 0,062% Co, 24,94% Fe, 0,001% Cu, 3,53% Mg, 0,29% Mn, 2,11% Al. The reserve of Caldag lateritic ore deposit is 32 million tons. In that study that we conducted, first atmospheric pressure sulphuric acid leaching is applied to the lateritic nickel ore and the effects of the parameters such as leaching duration, leaching temperature, acid concentration, grain size and pulp density on nickel and cobalt extractions are determined and according to these optimized parameters at 150 gr/lt acid concentration, at 800C leaching temperature and in 120 minutes leaching temperature, with 10% pulp density and 0,074 mm grain size, it is achived to extract nickel with 69,89% and cobalt with 62,80% efficiencies. Then, with applying of the process of pug-roast-leach, the effect of parameters such as acid amount, roasting temperature, roasting duration, leaching duration and pulp density on nickel and cobalt extractions are determined and according to these optimized parameters, with usage of sulphuric acid 150 wt % of ore, at 3000C roasting temperature and in 60 minutes roasting duration, in 30 minutes after roasting leaching duration and with 0,125 gr/lt pulp density, it is achived to extract nickel with 76,80% and cobalt with 45,75% efficiencies. According to the leaching results; instead of direct sulphuric acid leaching process, with applying of pug-roast-leach process, it had been seen that nickel and cobalt extractions could be increased. During the precipitation experiments that were conducted to extract nickel and cobalt which were received to solution with that process at optimum conditions, after applying of oxidation with H2O2 and precipitation of iron as geothite with NaOH, again with NaOH usage, mixed hidroxide precipitation process was applied to produce nickel and cobalt and 90,81% nickel and 75,22% cobalt was precipitated as mixed hidroxide precipitation product.Yüksek LisansM.Sc
