The first part considers a model which studies how the process of suburbanization affects individuals' residential location choices when individuals are subject to borrowing constraints. The second part addresses the issue of income redistribution when there is no accurate information on individuals' income levels. In this context, the government may find it optimal to publicly provide certain goods and services that have private substitutes in addition to in-cash transfers.
