104 p.Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2000.In summary, this dissertation makes contributions to networking research along two orthogonal dimensions. First, it presents a scalable and extensible architectural framework for designing active routers. Second, it develops a library of value-added mechanisms for critical components of the resource arbitration framework in the active router, thereby enabling a service provider to compose the set of services appropriate to its customers to deliver superior performance.U of I OnlyRestricted to the U of I community idenfinitely during batch ingest of legacy ETD
