Early childhood education has become essential in the United States. In this policy analysis we will critique the Head Start program which became enacted after Lyndon Johnsons State of the Union Message where he proclaimed a war on poverty. The Head Start program was started because education was seen as the solution to poverty. The Head Start program is funded by the federal government and receives its large policy direction from there. The federal government then handed responsibility to the individual states whom the hand out the services for the Head Start program. The Head Start program is intended to help lowincome families by providing support to the families, by increasing educational services, and by preparing teachers with the new...
