El principal paso regulador en la síntesis de glucógeno en bacterias y de almidón en plantas corresponde a la reacción catalizada por la enzima ADP-Glc PPasa. Siendo que la mayoría de las enzimas caracterizadas hasta el momento, están reguladas alostéricamente, se planteó como principal objetivo de la tesis dilucidar los mecanismos moleculares de esta regulación y ampliar el conocimiento de las interrelaciones entre los distintos efectores.
