04 Kayseri - Bogazliyan Deportations - Perpetrators

Please consult the index for full information]The written correspondences between the Kayseri Division Command, the Ankara Army Corps Command, and the Ministry of War in June 1915, regarding the deportation and trial in front of the Military Tribunal of the Archbishop of the Kayseri Armenians Hosrov Behrigian because he was carrying out revolutionary activities and encouraging Armenians to rebel. The written correspondences are provided along with their translations from Ottoman to Turkish and from Turkish to English.The transmittal of the encrypted telegraphs sent between Talat Pasha and the Kayseri District Governor Zekai Bey on 22 June 1915, by Colonel Shehabeddin Bey [Şehabeddin Bey] to the 5th Army Commander Colonel Halil Recai. In these written correspondences, Talat Pasha requests information regarding the Armenians whose deportation was seen as necessary. Furthermore, in these telegraphs, Talat Pasha states that the Armenians to be deported from Kayseri should be resettled in the Mosul Province; that they should be resettled in the towns and villages of the Kirkuk County; and that they should be resettled in the towns and villages of the southern part of the Aleppo Province, as well as in Kerek, at a rate of 10% of the Muslim population in these places.The telegraph sent by the Ankara 5th Army Corps Commander Colonel Halil Recai to the Kayseri 5th Division Commander Colonel Shehabeddin Bey [Şehabeddin Bey], informing him of the Ministry of Interior\u27s ordinance, dated 25 June 1915, which state that the Armenians of Kayseri should be deported to Aleppo; and the telegraph sent by Shehabeddin Bey [Şehabeddin Bey] to Recai bey, informing him that 100 Armenians had been deported from Kayseri to Diyarbekir via the Sivas road.The telegraph sent by Colonel Shehabeddin Bey [Şehabeddin Bey] to Halil Recai Bey, informing him of where 208 Armenians from the villages of Talas, Germir, and Muncusun would be deported; the telegraph sent by Shehabeddin Bey [Şehabeddin Bey] to Halil Recai, informing him that 83 Armenians and 36 Armenian soldiers had been tried and sentenced by the Military Tribunal in Kayseri and that they were subsequently deported via the Nigde [Niğde] road; and the telegraphs/written correspondences, dated 27-28 June 1915, stating that people, such as Bishop Hosrov Behrigian, who got involved in revolutionary activities should be deported to Aleppo, and that this should be done without raising the fears of the population.The instructions sent by the Minister of War and President of the Ottoman Military College, Enver Pasha, on 28 June 1915, to all of the Army and Army Corps Commands, stating that all Armenian committee members who were engaging in rebellion and attempting to establish an independent Armenia should be tried under the same Penal Code at the Military Tribunals.The encrypted telegraph sent by Colonel Halil Recai Bey to Shehabeddin Bey [Şehabeddin Bey] on 29 June 1915, by which he informs him of Enver Pasha\u27s ordinance sent to all Army and Army Corps Commands, stating that all Armenian committee members who were engaging in rebellion and attempting to establish an independent Armenia should be tried under the Article 54 of the Penal Code at the Military Tribunals; and in this regard, the encrypted telegraphs and written correspondences regarding the sending of this ordinance in great secrecy to the Ankara and Kayseri Military Tribunal Presidents.[This is a long document.
