Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neuropsychiatric disability and about 5 % of all children and adolescents in Sweden have been diagnosed with ADHD. The global prevalence is 5,3-7,1 %. Children diagnosed with ADHD early in life have a higher risk of ending up with addiction and criminality later in life. Common symptoms of ADHD are hyperactivity, impulsivity and difficulty in maintaining the attention. The pathophysiology of ADHD has not been established yet and is still unknown. Imbalance in neurotransmitters, proinflammatory effects, genes and diet are examples of some factors that may cause ADHD or give symptoms of ADHD.
