The more the merrier! A study to support biodiversity in the garden at Stadsnära Lantgård in Lidköping

Stadsnära Lantgård is an in-town farm, open to the public. The purpose of the company is to work at a local level in order to contribute to a sustainable society. The farm wants to give visitors the opportunity to learn and develop in a natural environment. A kitchengarden at Stadsnära Lantgård is the next step of development for Stadsnära Lantgård. This garden will serve as a platform for education, raising awareness and to support local biodiversity through gardening. One of the goals of this garden is to show visitors how it’s possible to make a difference with their own gardens. This study aims at deepening what biodiversity means, what the situation is like today and how people have come to terms with today's situation. A reasoning will be given about how gardens can play a role in the conservation and promotion of biodiversity in Sweden. Is the garden too small for actions to affect nature or can it be a case of small streams making a great river? This study will provide a basis for development of the garden at Stadsnära Lantgård, where the conditions for biodiversity will play a significant role from the outset.
