The main tourist destinations of the Middle East are indicated. The impact of geopolitical factors on tourism development in the region is identified. The dependence of tourist arrivals and tourism receipts on the geopolitical environment is revealed. The dynamic growth of tourism in the region during 2000-2010 and the decline in 2011 against the backdrop of the events of the «Arab Spring» were noted. The influence of terrorist acts on the development of tourism in the Middle East has been revealed. Particular attention was given to Egypt as the leading tourist destination of the region. The role of wars and conflicts in the destruction of tourist resources in the Middle East is indicated
