En este artículo se presenta la controversia entre Pasteur y Liebig sobre la fermentación como un relato de la historia de la ciencia (HDC) interesante para abordar algunas cuestiones sobre la naturaleza de la ciencia (NDC) en la educación científica. En consonancia con los posicionamientos actuales sobre cómo enseñar NDC, y particularmente desde el contexto de la HDC, la propuesta didáctica se plantea con un enfoque didáctico explícito y reflexivo. Esta se dirige a la formación de estudiantes de profesorado de ciencias de educación secundaria en la NDC y su didáctica.
