Wireless ad-hoc networking involves point to point communication in a network. To achieve an energy efficient communication wireless network is a challenging task. In this thesis, we propose a new modified power control MAC protocol which allows several source nodes to transmit data packets to a single destination in a round-robin fashion. The proposed idea is to use both IEEE 802.11 Power Saving Mechanism (PSM) and power control mechanism in wireless ad hoc networks. The power saving mechanism uses some control messages known as Announcement traffic indication message(ATIM). These control messages help the node to sleep or awake.
