Personalized motion sensor driven gesture recognition in the FIWARE cloud platform

Gesture recognition technology enables new means\ud of user communication and interaction with machines. This\ud work focuses on gesture recognition by analyzing data, obtained\ud by motion sensors, in the cloud. We present\ud Interact, a cloud based gesture recognition system that uses FIWARE. To pro-mote the development of Future Internet (FI) applications, all\ud functionalities of Interact are offered as cloud services, enabling\ud elasticity, lower cost of maintenance and off-site efficient data\ud storage. To promote productivity, Interact offers a REST API for\ud recognizing, storing and managing customized gesture collections\ud in the cloud as well as for subscribing to sensors. The system\ud is sensor independent and is designed to be compliant with the\ud most popular motion sensors (i.e., Leap Motion or Kinect). To\ud demonstrate the functionalities of Interact, a system prototype has\ud been developed utilizing the LEAP Motion sensor, offering all the\ud previously described functionalities. The prototype is hosted on\ud FIWARE Lab and is available for testing
