This report is a summary of 1976 tuberculosis morbidity for States and cities with populations of 100,000 and over, compiled from data submitted to the Center for Disease Control.Tuberculosis morbidity figures represent persons in whom the diagnosis of tuberculosis has been verified for counting purposes by the local official health agency. Starting in 1975, persons who had disease in the past and now have disease again, as well as persons with no previous history of tuberculosis, are included in the count. Cases are generally accepted based on positive bacteriology. In the absence of bacteriologic confirmation, persons with symptoms and/or signs compatible with the diagnosis of current disease, whose diagnostic process has been completed, ...
