Adnexal torsion is a gynecologic emergency that is caused by the rotation of the ovary and/or the tube around its own mesosalpinx. Although any situation that enlarges the adnexes may cause torsion, adnexial masses are in the first order in the etiology. In recent years, with the development of assisted reproductive techniques ovulation induction with gonadotropins may cause ovarian hiperstimulation that enlarges the ovaries and may cause adnexal torsion. Organ sparing surgery should be the first choice of treatment as the majority of patients are in the reproductive period.
