A Work Project, presented as part of the requirements for the Award of a Masters Degree in Finance from the NOVA – School of Business and EconomicsThis Working project examines if the shock of financial events, during the recent financial crisis, impacted differently on bank-dependent firms and firms with access to the public debt market. I devote a special attention to the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy event and its effect on U.S. and European firms. Given the global integration of the financial sector, I investigate the propagation of financial shocks from one economy to another. I also study the impact of Central Banks monetary policy decisions and the biggest bailout of $ 700 billion to the U.S. financial sector on bank-dependent firms
