EXTENSION OF METROPOLITAN PARIS AND SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGES WITHIN THE INNER SUBURBS 1954-1975 This paper focuses on some of the major caracteristics of recent changes within metropolitan Paris. Particular attention is paid to interrelationships between the dynamics of the housing market and of the social structure of the inhabitants, on two scales : the metropolitan region and the 80 communes, including Paris, which make up the former department of the Seine. The pattern of dynamics which results from the data analysed shows striking similarities with Burgess 'model.
