The interaction between local buckling and delamination growth in laminated compositeplates is investigated. The phenomenon is described within the framework of beams and plates theories with account of geometric nonlinearities. Several models are proposed including the case of relatively short delamination. The finite element method is used in order to simulate the postbuckling behaviour of delaminated strucutre for different shapes and positions of the delaminated area. A specific approach for the determination of the energy release rate is suggested in these models.
