Abstract. This research paper explores the role that Children’s picture books and narratives can play in the teaching of Philosophical thinking and critical enquiry to young children and focuses mainly on the work of authors Roald Dahl and Dr Seuss. Philosophy for Children (P4C) was first introduced in the 1970’s by Philosopher and Educator Matthew Lipman and continues to be taught today, at Primary level as well as secondary, although it is perceived to be controversial by some educators , religious establishments and parents.
