Identification of the bearer: Member of the Venetian family of BarbarigoHistorical Notice: Venetian patrician family, including two doges of Venice (15th c.) and two dukes of Crete (16th c.). This particular coat-of-arms, dated 1696, decorates the barrel of a cannon, part of a battery positioned over the sea, at the city of Nafplio. It was probably used during the Turkish�Venetian War of 1684�1699.
