This theoretical paper aims to advance the understanding of the early history of scientific thought marketing and highlight arguments able to elevate our understanding of how the reflections of the researchers of the time may eventually shed some light to the current discussion of the academic discipline, contributing to their own evolution. The discussions presented show how the different definitions of what can be considered a science related, while the apparent restriction of discipline to the development of rules of action, rather than generalizations and predicting phenomena, damaged the possible elevation of character scientific marketing
