This research is qualitative and quantitative research approach that aims to describe the students’ difficulties and self-efficacy of junior high school and their relevance in problem solving about mathematics olympiad. The subject of this research are two students of SMPN 5 Maiwa who have participated in the mathematics olympiad. The data were obtained by using research instruments, self-efficacy questionnaires, mathematics olympics tests consisting of 2 items and interview guides. The data collection process was conducted by the researchers themselves. Data analysis technique using qualitative analysis.
