International audienceIn this paper, the performance of Long Range(LoRa) Internet of Things (IoT) technology is investigated. Byconsidering Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) technique of LoRa,an approximation of the Bit Error Rate (BER) is presented andevaluated through intensive simulations. Unlike previous workswhich present the BER of LoRa in terms of the ratio of energyber bit to noise ratio only without any proofing, our presentedwork expresses BER in terms of LoRa’s modulation patterns suchas the spreading factor, the code rate, the symbol frequency andthe SNR. Numerical results are carried out in order to investigatethe LoRa performance and to illustrate the accuracy of the newBER expression
