Culture et professionnalisation des métiers féminin : analyse socio-anthropologique des formes de communication dans le secrétariat au Gabon

The object of this thesis is based on a report : vulgarizing, even, the rejection of the trade of secretary in Gabon. To seize the origins of them, we adopted an understanding approach which led us to carry out a research in two phases: an pre-investigation (realized between 2000 and 2003) and a further survey (realized since 2004). The pre-investigation delivers three conclusions. 1/ the secretarial is a communication activity mobilizing of various competences: the writing which obliges with the control of the orthography, grammar and the data-processing tool (for working of the documents); the oral examination which requires the control of the act of language and ritual of interaction. 2/ One can count three generations of secretaries in Gabon : that of independences at 1984 (official creation date of the first school of training of the secretaries on a higher level), that of 1985 to 1994 and the last since 1995. 3/ There are communication distortions in the secretariat, distortions which generated the pejoration of this trade and of its workers. The last generation seems to be accused. Instead of working on the pejoration of the trade (which is only the consequence of the communication conflicts), we decided to deal with the problem with the root by focusing us on the origins of the communication difficulties of the present generation. Thus, to explore all the tracks which were presented at us, so have us restricted our study with the secretariat of public administration and retained three administrations : two school and university administrations and a local government. In this complementary phase, we combined the tools of sociology, the anthropology and the communication and information sciences, namely: maintenance, the investigation, the key advisor, participating observation, as well as the information retrieval. In the light of the investigations, it appears that the most manifest cause of the communication difficulties in this professional group is the defect of training of secretary's forming as a woman in Gabonese's society taken between the tradition and the modernity and where many resistances to change and a tendency to phallocentrism are observedL'objet de cette thèse se fonde sur un constat : la banalisation, voire, le rejet du métier de secrétaire au Gabon. Pour en saisir les origines, nous avons adopté une approche compréhensive qui nous a amenée à effectuer une recherche en deux phases : une pré-enquête (réalisée entre 2000 et 2003) et une enquête complémentaire (réalisée à partir de 2004). La pré-enquête livre trois conclusions. 1/ Le secrétariat est une activité communicationnelle mobilisant des compétences diverses : l'écrit qui oblige à la maîtrise de l'orthographe, de la grammaire et de l'outil informatique (pour la mise en forme des documents) ; l'oral qui nécessite la maîtrise de l'acte de langage et des rituels d'interaction. 2/ On peut dénombrer trois générations de secrétaires au Gabon : celle des indépendances à 1984 (date de création officielle de la première école de formation des secrétaires à un niveau supérieur), celle de 1985 à 1994 et la dernière depuis 1995. 3/ Il existe des distorsions communicationnelles dans le secrétariat, distorsions qui ont engendré la péjoration de ce métier et de ses pratiquantes. La dernière génération semblant être la plus incriminée. Au lieu de travailler sur la péjoration du métier (qui n'est que la conséquence des conflits communicationnels), nous avons décidé de traiter le problème à la racine en nous focalisant sur les origines des difficultés communicationnelles de la génération actuelle. Ainsi, pour explorer toutes les pistes qui se présentaient à nous, avons-nous restreint notre étude au secrétariat d'administration publique et retenu trois administrations : deux administrations scolaires et universitaires et une administration locale. Dans cette phase complémentaire, nous avons combiné les outils de la sociologie, de l'anthropologie et des sciences de l'information et de la communication, à savoir : l'entretien, l'enquête, l'informateur clé, l'observation participante, ainsi que la recherche documentaire. À la lumière des investigations, il apparaît que la cause la plus manifeste des difficultés communicationnelles dans ce groupe professionnel est le défaut de formation de la secrétaire en tant que femme dans cette société prise entre la tradition et la modernité et où on observe de nombreuses résistances au changement et une tendance au phallocentrism
