Etude anthropologique des prières maronites dans une société mulitconfessionnelle au Liban

This dissertation is about an anthropological approach to the study of the Maronite liturgical heritage following a set plan. The study falls into two volumes. 1 - Vol. One is a socio-historical study beginning with a survey of the origins of the Maronites and their status in the Lebanese multi-confessional society. This is linked with the on-going Islamo-Christian dialogue, and both the problematical issue of prayer and the concept of God, notablmy in the ancient Near East. The limitations of the framework of the research study are also drawn. In this perspective, I also analyze the spiritual inter-communal quality of prayer in Lebanon according to, first, the Lebanese Christian and Moslem perception of the other ; and second, the role of the " word " in Christian and Moslem prayer and its function concerning the different theological status in both Christianity and Islam. All leading up to reveal the sociological characteristics of the Christian and Moslem prayer. The study also handles the origins and evolution of a private Maronite prayer book and touches upon the issue of the Latanization of the Maronites. 2 - Vol. Two is a linguistic approach of the authentic Maronite liturgical prayer through the analysis of three dominant figures of speech ; namely anti-thesis, metonymy, and metaphor. The purposes of this analysis are, first, to justify the employment of such figures in liturgical texts and attempt to uncover their use ; and second, to analyse the metaphor and its importance in understanding culture. The ultimate goal of this study is to propose a way of socio-historical research, and above all, a linguistic analysis of prayer not yet touched upon. The study concludes by proposing new methods of analysing both the liturgical and the religious heritage of a particular community.Il s'agit d'une approche anthropologique, suivant un plan déterminé, de l'étude du patrimoine liturgique Maronite, approche répartie en deux étapes ; A - Volume 1 - étape socio-historique qui commence par une interrogation sur l'origine des Maronites et leur statut dans la société Libanaise multiconfessionnelle, liée à la question du dialogue intercommunautaire islamo-Chrétien. Problématique de la prière et la perception de Dieu notamment au P.O antique, et délimitation du cadre de la recherche. Sous cet angle est examinée la prière en tant que lien spirituel intercommunautaire au Liban à travers, 1)- La perception d'autrui chez les Chrétiens et les musulmans Libanais ; 2)- Le rôle de la parole dans les prières Chrétiennes et musulmanes en fonction du statut différent de la théologie dans le Christianisme et l'Islam. En guise de conclusion sont dégagées les caractéristiques sociologiques des prières Chrétiennes et Musulmanes. L'étude de la genèse et l'évolution d'un livre de prières privées Maronites abordera la question de la latinisation des Maronites. B - Dans la deuxième étape-volume 2- une approche linguistique des prières liturgiques Maronites (authentiques) à travers 3 figures dominantes : l'antithèse, la métonymie et la métaphore en vue de 1)- justifier d'abord ces figures dans la liturgie et tâcher de dégager leur économie, 2)- d'analyser la métaphore et son importance dans l'analyse de la culture. Le but final de cette thèse est de proposer une voie de recherche socio-historique mais surtout linguistique de la prière, non encore abordée qui se termine par la proposition de nouvelles méthodes d'analyse du patrimoine liturgique et religieux d'une communauté
