In the period between 1871 and 1914 the Vosges can be described as a dynamic frontier area where the republican party represents a decisive political force. it is a stream of throught which gathered together all those who agreed with the ideas of the 1789 French revolution and turned into a structured organization at the beginning of the 20th century. after a brief description of the Vosges, this thesis analyses the evolution of the party, using mostly administrative and local newspapers sources.
