<p></p><p>ABSTRACT: This study aimed to investigate the understandings of school management teams about the Specialized Educational Assistance service. As a data collection instrument, a questionnaire was used. The participants in this research were seven principals, eight supervisors and seven counselors from seven schools in a city in the state of Santa Catarina, totaling 22 participants. Content analysis was used to analyze the understandings of the seven Directive Teams. The results demonstrated that the majority of participants have an understanding about Specialized Educational Assistance focused on the target audience of Special Education.
