"I will address the management of archives as a University Archivist with responsibility for two specific collections at the Australian National University: the University Archives and the Noel Butlin Archives Centre. The University Archives are what archivists refer to as ‘in-house’, that is, the archives of the institution itself, while the Noel Butlin Archives Centre collects other people’s archives: the archives of Australian businesses, trade unions, industry bodies and professional organisations. I will also speak briefly about a new collecting initiative, the Pacific Research Collection.
