View of curved saloon with curving linoleum-topped bar faced with the same mottled tiles used on the walls. Above the taps is a cash register.The room features linoleum flooring, chromed edgings and fixtures, mirror-backed shelves, streamlined cornices and a skylight. Fans and cylindrical lights hang from the ceiling. The Royal Hotel was purchased by Tooth & Company in May 1939 and sold in October 1983. On completion of rebuilding in December 1940 the hotel was a two storeyed brick stucture, roofed partly with tiles and partly with flat concrete blocks and had a fully tiled ground floor exterior. The architectural style is known as P. & O. Ship Style because of its similarities to ocean liner forms
