It is built in the Queen Anne Tudor revival style with turrets, bay windows and decorative beam work on the gable and porch. In the distance can be seen Victoria Square, originally known as Church Square, and the façade of St Marys Roman Catholic Cathedral. The cathedral's construction began in 1863 to plans drawn up by Augustus Pugin
