In 1955 peasants of St. Jean Brevelay district in Brittany, faced with the industrialisation, decided succesfully to launch the production of industrialized poultry. The paper analyses the conditions of such a transformation and the socio economic consequences which affected the different strata in the peasanty. At first, those with scarce ressource in land largely benefited from the new opportunity. But the food and supply for animal companies were forced to make a selection among the producers.
