Excavations which were held in difficult conditions on Rochefleur (1976) and Odeon (199-200) sites revealed thirty-seven funeral structures related to cremation but also four inhumations from High Roman-Empire and four sarcophagus from late Antiquity. This area is part of the large necropolis named necropolis of Alyscamps in the south east of the city and has been used in that purpose between end of first century before JC and the fifth century. Odeon’s site which is closer to the high Roman Empire surrounding wall seems to be slightly prior to Rochefleur’s one, suggesting that the necropolis had an evolution from west to east. During late Antiquity, Odeon’s site is occupied another time with a construction which nature remains unexplained ...
