Iconography of the Turkish Presence in the Malay World : Contribution of the Javanese Reverse Painting on Glass. This article presents fifteen Javanese reverse glass paintings of Ottoman inspiration. These paintings were produced in Java between the early years of the 20th century and the 1980s. Attraction for the Ottoman Empire in the Malay and Javanese worlds have inspired literary and journalistic writings, as well as iconographic works reproduced on paper.
