Eudokia Makrembolitissa: was she implicated in the removal of her husband, Romanos IV Diogenes, from power?

Michael Attaleiates implicated Eudokia Makrembolitissa in a plot to remove her husband, Romanos IV Diogenes, from power long before the Mantzikert campaign (1071 A. D.). The present article investigates her possible motives through a detailed analysis of the sources.
