Impact of the Fixed Link across the Great Belt. In this paper the regional economic impact of the fixed link across the Great Belt -to be finished in 1996 -is studied. Since modern theories of location stress the importance of the firms personal contacts, the focus is on the impact of changed accessibility for business travels. Computer firms were selected as a sector with intensive personal contacts, and 30 firms all over Denmark were interviewed. The result was that recruitment of qualified staff was the most important factor of location. Accessibility by the fastest means of transport also plays a role.
