Borsod county is one of the crisis areas in Hungary. The valley of river Sajó is heavy industrial district. According to the international experiences there are four most effective developing or structure changing strategies which may be suitable for the restructuration of a western-type market economy. In the countries of the Eastern-block the situation is more complicated. The author points out the traditions and social background of economy.
