The latest trends in language teaching methodology stress the importance of innovative ways of developing self-evaluation within the process of learning a foreign language : the Portfolio of Languages. The Portfolio is effectively the best way of monitoring progression in language learning over several years. It encourages pupils to develop their ability to reflect on their learning and it motivates them to discover different languages and cultures. This article offers an overview of a project that was developed and piloted in Poland between 2003 and 2005.
