In July 2010, the General Assembly of the UN recognized the human right to water and sanitation, without any opposition. In September 2010, at the meeting of the Council of Human Rights, the USA, that had for long opposed such recognition, changed their position. On the other side, much remains to be done in order to make this recognition effective.
