Due to non-reactivity of chromium (III) ions directly with Si (OH)4 in solution, we have investigated their incorporation in a synthetic magnesium clay. It can be shown that the crossed lattice of a clay mineral germinates only when the molecular ratio MgO/C2O3 is either equal or higher than 5. At concentrations more than the said value, Cr (III) ions hinder the formation of a crossed lattice and impose a spinel structure. ..for the ratio MgO/Cr2O3 equal to 100 in solution, the X-ray diffraction diagram the synthetic product is -well defined, 5.85 % of Cr2O3 is found on chemical of the analysis, which is close to those of natural chromiferous clay minerals.
