When trying to extract potassium from micas, one notes that trioctahedral micas, «containing no fluor, release easily potassium, but muscovites do it very hardly. Trioctahedral micas containing fluor and glauconite have an intermediary comportment. When fixing different alkaline and alkaline-earth cations on these verm iculitized minerals, one yields a variation of the temperature of dehydratation of the layer which is of about 200°C in the case of phlogopites and of about 50°C in the case of muscovite.
