This is a study, by x-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis of the products obtained by hydrothermal reaction between 300° and 600°C of mixtures of MgCO3 and montmorillonite. The crystallisation of a corrensite, a chlorite or a septechlorite were observed, according to the temperature, and the relative proportions of MgCO3 and montmorillonite. Corrensite appeared instead of the stable group talc-cordierite-clinochlore. Its formation is probably favoured by the presence in the initial mixture of pre-formed flakes of montmorillonite.Wyart Jean, Sabatier G. Synthèse Hydrothermale de la corrensite.
