We analyse the modes of dramatized oral reading by the adult constitute the first mode of interpretative reading which gives the children access to an understanding of written and illustrated stories. We study more specificaly the co-elaborated linguistic exchanges between the children and with the adult. We show how these dialogued narrative restatements constitute the way in which the children access the understanding of the stories and the joint construction of interpretations, which will provide the development of their linguistic abilities.
