«Like a Mirror » , Objects and Reflections in Achilles Tatius’ Novel. In this paper, we focuse on the occurrences of the word κάτοπτρον, «mirror » , in Achilles Tatius’ Leukippe and Clitophon. A mirror is a dual object, because it is an indirect view instrument, but it also creates a reflection that can be really different from reality. In this novel, several objects could be seen as these reflexive surfaces : clothes are the “ body’s mirror”, and generally, cloths generate pictures that are the narrative’s reflects. Furthermore, we can observe oneself in a mirror. Leukippe’s eye is then the mirror in which we contemplate ourselves. The other becomes the reflexive element.
