The study of late Latin can be carried out not only from Latin texts, but also through contemporary Greek texts, which contain a lot of syntactic and lexical latinisms. Greek Hippiatrica are a good example, because some of the technical terms (in botanical, medical, military fields) are latinisms, which came from latin writers who we don’t necessarily know. Most of those Latinisms are given with an equivalent Greek translation, because the readers of those treatises had to know pathological or botanical names in utraque lingua, when making a pharmacological purchase or in discussions with roman veterinaries.
