The aim of this paper is to reconsider a harshly debated point, concerning whether or not religious mentions can be found in the new Thebes tablets. Following the lines suggested by J.T. Killen (2006), the tablets have been re-examined according to the objective criteria generally applied to Mycenaean documents. On the one hand, it is obvious that the Eleusinian interpretation of the tablets, as the editors suggested, somehow strains the data. On the other hand, one cannot a priori exclude that religious matters can be referred to. Thus it is argued that o-po-re-i is very probably a theonym that has been preserved as Zeus’s epithet ΟΠΟΡΕΙ appearing in an inscription from Acraiphia.On revient ici sur une question très débattue, celle d’évent...
