This article deals with the contents of the future primary and secondary school teacher's general training. Does a study of the training programmes of six lUFM's make it possible to derive a kind of core programme of general training that might be connected with a system of reference of the professional skills of all teachers from nursery schools to secondary schools ? Even if some sort of convergence appears between the different lUFM's, it seems that local contexts remain largely determining factors. What does the content of the training offered to students depend on ? Local needs ? The resource-trainers each IUMF calls on ?
