A survey led among students and trainee teachers of the first two promotions of the Lorraine IUFM with a view to rooting the academic training into their preoccupations shows that an evolution has started among future teachers concerning the image they form of the profession and what they expect from the training. Even if they rather typically wish to be in contact with the pupils and to be able to express their interest in their subject-matter, they are now convinced that teaching is a job they have to learn.
