Roxane D. Argyropoulos : The thought of the Ideologues in Greece. At the turn of the 18th Century the Idologues were considered in Greece as the most innovative current in philosophy, and their political thought played a role in the development of liberalism. The Greek intellectual A. Coray, a member of the Société des Observateurs de l'Homme, was associated with the Idéologues and considered their philosophy as a science and a new branch of knowledge. It was at his instigation that Ideology was taught in Greek schools in the Ottoman empire and in prosperous centres of the Greek diaspora in Italy, Central Europe and Russia. Ideology also formed the basis of university philo¬ sophy teaching in modern Greece. The limits of the influence of this theory were reached around 1850, but the political thought of the Idéologues continued to dominate in Greece until the end of the century.Argyropoulos Roxane D.
