Traditional psychotherapy and hasidism. The dual character of the Enlightenment (as represented by rationalists and convulsionaries) is reflected in the Jewish community. Just as there is an institutionalised, environmental Jewish system of therapy, there is also a parallel therapy. Hasidism as a system of faith-healing, precedes its existence as a theological movement with its own rites. In addition to its practical elements it represents a complex system of ideas where the new anatomy corresponds to a new relationship with the patient and with scientific knowledge. As the antithesis of the «classical » Jewish doctor who was often the vehicle of assimilation, the charismatic leader, embodying Justice, combines healing and initiation in a new symptomatology.Rausky Franklin.
