Erosion and agro-environmental measures in the andalusian olive grove. The olive tree is a Mediterranean culture that, aside from its great socio-economic influence, characterizes also to a large extent the landscapes in vast zones of Andalusia. Many of these zones, specially the mountainous ones, are traditionally cultivated in a manner which increases erosion and the filling of dams with sediments. In the long term, it can result in reduced productivity, abandonment and depopulation, particularly in the least favoured zones. To avoid all these effects, and in agreement with measures which accompany the Reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (Regulation 2078/92), the Andalusian government has established a Program which promotes methods ...
