Spatial population reorganization in spain between 1900 and 2007. The population potential maps of Spain show the demographic redistribution process, highlighting the periods of maximal annual cumulative growth– 60s and 70s or beginning of the XXIst century– and those of stagnation – 80s and 90s. The cartography reveals the importance of the metropolitanization processes, with the emptying of central cities and the selective growth of the metropolitan borders, until a resumption of the growth of central cities due to recent immigration. The first emptying process of the rural villages nearby big cities is replaced by a sustained growth which contrasts with the demographic fall of the rural cities that are distant from big urban centers.
